Hi folks,
I've got a EBMM Bongo in Graphite Black and with a Rosewood fingerboard and I'm thinking of experimenting with some new strings. I've had the same set of TI Jazz Flats on it now for 12 months so I think it's time for a change.
I've read good reviews of DR coated strings so I might pick up a set. I'm thinking of getting the peacock blue ones, because these will match my Ashdown ABM amp - on the other hand I'm thinking of getting pink ones because our band is described as "An All Girl Indie Band - With Boys In"... and, well, you know...
Anyway, if you have pics of black basses with coated strings on them, please share!
Many thanks,
Jamie |

Looks pretty cool, sounds ok (missed the real bright sound of brand new SS's) but the coating's coming off over the pickups after three or four gigs. I can color them in again with a black felt tip pen, though: that's the advantage of black.

FYI, I love the strings, I hate that super trebly noise when you first put em on. They've had a super long life too, while the coating does come off over time if you use a pic, they dont lose their tone at all.
I mostly finger pick so I still have only a few spots after like... a year and a half |

Plus it'll give me a couple of weeks longer to deliberate on which ones to get. I'm leaning towards the black ones at the moment... |

Reason is, my Yamaha needs higher action than my Warwick due to smaller radius. I have Wawrick 40's on the Warwick and Roto BS 43 - 110 on the Yamaha. The Yamaha feels so much stiffer, but I want something with a bit of meat because I have a D-tuner on the E string. BTW I can only get the DR coloured in 45's in the UK it seems.

Nice basses! That Red Burst P Bass looks great with Black strings!
I like the Black on Black on the P Bass and the blue on Dirk's basses.
Maybe the answer is to get more basses and then I can have more strings at once!

I just got them so I don't know if they last as long as people say they do... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
