Cocco Strings for a six string!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey there,

I was looking into Richard Cocco strings, and I seem to like the gauges that they offer for six string. They also seem to be tapered at the core as well (like the SR2000's I use now) and I would like to try them out.

The thing is I can't find them anywhere, except for bass emporium which only has the light gauge and they are 39$. Does anyone know where else I could find these things? And how much they would roughly cost.

I also hear they are the same thing as Labella super steps and if that is the case then I definitely do not want to try them out.

Any opinions or suggestions or help?

Thanks,

Andrew

Ok so I found them at bass central. cool. Now do any of you have any opinions on these strings? maybe in comparison to Dean Markley SR2000s?

Well,

I've used both strings. I still admire both strings. I used the Dean Markley's religiously on my Ken Smith BSR 6P. I use SR 2000 because of the taper core and it gives me a clean rich sound. Even more I tune down a whole step and they hold tension really well.

No mind you, I have been around the block concerning strings; Darco, LaBella, GHS, Rotosound, Elixir, DR, Thomastik Infelds, just about all of them.

My 5 string pursuits were a little different and what was good for the goose wasn't good for the gander. I went explore and then my friend introduced me to R Cocco strings.

I used them on a project MTD KZ 5 with Audere and Nordstrand p/ups and that was the best thing that ever happened to the bass. It brings so much life and communicates so well with the pickups.

I now have a Warrior Sig 5 and I used the old strings (which weren't super old) and then put the R Cocco strings on the bass. I believe the string added extra clarity to the sound and really picked up the tone of the fingerboard and neck better than any other string.

I love them. I'm just trying to get a tapered set so I can use them on my Ken Smith now.

Hey man,

I appreciate the response. About these Cocco strings, how do they sound compared to the SR2000's?

And I am assuming you like the Cocco ones better since you want to put them on all your basses.

Anyone else play these strings? any opinions?

Are they pretty much the same thing as Labella super steps?

Dean Markleys and R Cocco's are relatively close while fingering but I have noted more aggression from the R Cocco strings. R Cocco's are more "edgier" and more versatile than the Markley's in my opinion.
