Colored Nylon Tapewound strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm getting a blank (no lines) Fretless soon, and I was wondering if anybody knew about not black nylon tapewound strings? i love the non-lined look, but will pretty much lose it if the strings are black :P

Just wondering if anybody knew of some!

thanks :P

The only colored (other than black ) strings I know of are rounds with a coating on them. DR is probably the most famous.

The only tapes I know of are black.

Hmm it is a good question though. Why are nylon tapewounds black? Why not another color? Why not just the natural color of plain nylon?

I vaguely remember red colored flats in the '60s but now, to paraphrase Henry Ford, you can have any color you want as long as you want black.

Sadly, there is too little a market for colored tapewounds, obviously. If there were any kind of market at all, some mom n pop shop would be making them out of their garage.
Personally, I think black tapes look the sex over an ebony fingerboard.

My guess is that tapes are less than 1% of the electric bass string market.

We should be happy that a handful of makers make them at all.
