Why haven't they started making some glow in the dark ones.
That would be awesome.
That's all really.
Gentlemen, to procrastination!

Or for the Blue Man Groups bassist.

Or for the Blue Man Groups bassist. | That would be so sick.
During a bass solo stage goes pitch black, all you see is the strings bouncing around and thunder slamming through the venue. |

Make each 'string' out of a really, really thin fluorescent bulb and jack it into the onboard preamp power circuit! As an added bonus, seeing as the strings are rigid, you wouldn't need to waste any time tuning!

EDIT: ...although, actually, I just thought of something.
Start with a nylon string (a la classical guitars), and run each string through a machine that cuts hundreds or thousands of tiny notches all over surface.
Then, wrap each string with transparent tape, a la tapewound strings.
Then, rig up an acoustic-style bridge, with an LED mounted in each string slot.
Add a piezo pickup and you're done - an acoustic-electric bass with GLOWING FIBRE-OPTIC STRINGS.
I win.

These are supposed to be very similar but coated and black. I like the sound a lot - it's the feel that is a little off for me.
I'll probably try some Hi Beams again when they get them in stock locally, but I'll hang on to these as well - just in case. |

| | | | LMAO. When I did some touch up for my glowgraphics on the Ibanez, a little got on one of the strings. So I had a warbling vibrating bit of glowy string for a little bit. But seriously, only way it could be done would be with nylon strings injected with glow paint or powder. Even the watch lume formula glow paint is too course for something like string coating. One could however do coated strings that where black light reactive. Then use ultraviolet led on em. Maybe fun for a Daft Punk type thing. Lol.
Someone should do glow fretlines for a fretless though. Thatd be kewl.

Seriously - I never forget to turn off my MXR boxes at night. If I don't, they're so bright I can't sleep!
