Comments on the lifespan of Rotosound's "Nexus" strings?

Since I do love a lot of mid-range and growl, I believe I'd like the sound of these strings on my fretless, but I wanted to see if their lifespan would justify a purchase. I'm used to Roto's flats and they suit me quite well, plus I've had this set on since Feb of '09. (although they've been a bit dead since month five or six. I've just been too cheap to buy a new set.)

Comments? Questions? Concerns?

I've got 2 sets of NXB45s both removed from fretted necks after a few hours use & I was surprised to see where the black had worn away over the frets. They should be ok on a fretless, you don't use a pick do you? If you want a cheap set to try let me know, where are you & what bass are you using?

TBH - I'd stick with flats, if you like black nylon try GHS 3060s they're really smooth & sweet sounding, nice tension & better sizes than the Roto Tru-bass, in fact if your nut has been filed to fit Tru-bass you'll probably need a new nut for almost any other strings!
