comparable to LaBella 760FL's for through body?

To all the flatwound users...
IMO LaBella 760FL's are the best flats I've ever used,
I'm looking to string my '08 Am Std P with flats and i want to string through the body.

Question, is there a comparable flat to the 760FL as far as;
the sweet low mid grunt, articulate upper mids & hi's and tension?

I'm too nervous to string 760FL's through body, cause i play 5 nights per week, 3 hours per night and I can't be breakin' a string mid set

thanks in advance...

There is nothing like the 760s except the 760s. Why would you want to run them through the body, if you have a through bridge option?

+1 is there any reason you want to string through the body? I thought the new MIA p basses had the through the bridge option. Personally I cant tell the diference between through body or thruogh bridge I think the option is there to compesate for string length in some cases. String the 760'sthrough the bridge and enjoy them!

I hear DR flats are good (but haven't tried them) and DR says they go through the body just fine.

Man, if you love those strings like i do, just top load them as the others have said. Nothing to gain from going through the body unless you lose ferrules easily...

thanks for all the input...I'm aware of just top loading
I top loaded my Am deluxe P (lost two ferrules)

I'm just wondering if there are any comparable strings that can go through body...
IE: fender 9050L's, very close to the 760FL's, not as smooth & articulate up top, bottom very similar, tension a little high..

I've heard Sadowsky's are close, can they be strung through body?

or maybe EB group III's

I guess I want to string through the body because the bass is new and I don't want to loose ferrules...
maybe after the honeymoon is over I'll just string through the bridge, like i did with my Am Deluxe P
thanks again

Buy some spare ferrules. Glue them in place as they get lost. I wouldn't sacrifice tone for the ferrules.

I found the ernie ball flats to be similar to the labellas , some people says that they sound like chromes I don't hear it myself

I've done it

I think you will find that most guys and most manufacturers will advise you to go through the bridge.

The reason is the way that flats are constructed. The sharp angle that happens when you go through the body and over the bridge saddle can actually break the wrap on some flats and then the string is ruined.

Having said that, I have a Lakland DJ5 strung with DA Chromes that I pretty much HAD to string through the body and I've had no problems at all.

The B string on that set is .132 and it's so big I literally could not get the end of it through the bridge hole...the silk wrap simply would not fit.

Luckily I won't have to think about that again for a year or so

They are all flats of course .

I had a 50-105 set of EB flats that was pretty bright. Tried them on a couple of basses. Never put a whole lot of time on them though. I have a 43-104 set of 760FLs that to my ears is much rounder and warmer with a big fat bottom.

At this point my flat experience has been Labella, EB, and TI. Again to my ears, the Labellas are the more traditional flatwound sound that is in my head. I love the TIs on my Jazz bass but I did not like them so much on the P. There was not the strong bottom. And the EBs felt like a they had to much high mid / high end that I did not find very musical. YMMV. My amp setup is on the modern side which probably has a big impact on what I hear.
