Exclamation Could I use a C string as a G string??

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay heres the story, I buy a set of chromes from ebay, and the G string is missing. So I contact daddario and they send me a new set.
So I look around for a G for my incomplete set, and the best I could find was a .35.
Would that sound okay with a .132, .100, .80, .65, set?
Thank you!

It will hold that pitch, I use a 35 for my G, but the tension will be very light compared to the other strings.

Original (Gonna have pretty low tension. For a rough guideline, try dropping a string currently on your bass by 5 semi-tones to see if it sounds & feels usable.)

Sorry folks; caught 'C' & must have glossed over 35. Less stupidly:

Dead-sticking a bit from the D'Addario Tension Guide, I'd guess the 35 at G would be about 29 pounds. Still a low tension, but not as bad as dropping 5 semi-tones.
