i use dr high beams on my jazz basses and on my six string bass i use daddario, there are
mant different gauges to choose from, and then there are nickel wound and stainless
strings, the best advice i could give you is to experiment until you find what you like.i
have been using daddario for years and they are one of my favorites and they are very
affordable and good sounding strings, then you need to decide on a gauge do you like
a light string, medium, heavy.there are many brands of strings these probably two of the
most popular and a good starting point, good luck!

Very subjective. Strings make THE biggest difference in the tone of a bass. I like EB Slinky's, and Rotosound, both nickle roundwounds, but you need to see what you like. Expiriment.

Hey Olasol, Im an a hardcore/metal band myself and we also play in drop c. I recently changed my strings to ernieball power slinky strings but the "E" string (or C) is 110 gauge and it still seem a little floppy. It deffinetly is better than my previous 105 gauge. The power slinky's are doable though but I think I might try to find something a little thicker like the GHS Boomers Heavy (come with a 115 gauge "E" string) or try a different 110 like DR Lo-riders or their extra-life strings.

Im kind of reluctant to try the GHS strings because I heard they go "dead" really fast. The GHS strings are really cheap, I think around $20. The DR strings, in the other hand, last a long along time especially extra-life ones but are more expensive, around $30.

But Im leaning towards the DR string Lo-riders. They are a little stiffer than most strings and seems like alot of people who play drop C use these and love them.

I used Peavey Cirrus string for a long time but recently became hard to find. I switched to Rotosound "Rotobass" (RB45).nickel roundwound 45-105 medium gauge. realitively inexpensive 15-19 bucks
Endorsers of Rotosound Bass strings are...
Billy Sheenan/Geddy Lee/Jaco Pastorius/John Paul Jones/Sir Paul McCartney/Pink Floyd/Stanley Clarke.
I gig alot and usually change strings every 5 gigs.

Something else you might consider trying is SIT strings. SIT stands for 'Stay-In-Tune'. I've found they're quite handy in drop-tunings. I have them on a simple Precision, but once I was able to drop all the way to B-E-A-D. I don't try that too often...

Also, if you play Metal, go with the SIT Hex-Wounds. Flats (in my humble opinion) don't go too well with Metal. Hex-wounds have a more aggressive, metallic sound.

(don't get the idea I disrespect Flats or Rounds please... they do sound great!)
