Hellow Fellow Bassists!
I´m new to the forum so first off for having a place to come in need.. of help and instructions that is.
And to make it clear I´m not that familiar with the specific technical aspect on string pulls or anything like that. I have the basic knowledge (common sense), but I suppose you guys here know a lot of stuff that I have no idea, so..
I´ve been playing bass for few years now. Mostly on jamming basis ´cause I´m more of a guitarist. About an year ago I bought my first "real" bass.. Rockbass by Warwick Fortress 5 string (34" scale). I´ve been very pleased with it. But since my band plays in rather low tuning and my playing varies from picking, thumbs and some slapping I´ve had a hard time of finding a good set of strings. Right now I´m playing on DR Low Riders 045-065-085-105-130.. But as you can see the tuning is rather low. Right now the low B string isn´t actually in any use. But the pull on the E(C) A(G) D(C) G(A) strings is actually pretty nice. It could be a bit harder tho.. just a teeny tiny bit. But I really like the sound.
So I came to "professionals" on this matter to ask if it would be a wise decision to maybe gather a custom set of single strings.. to keep the same "loose" feel on the strings. I´ve been thinking about Ernie Ball´s slinkys.. But the Brand really isn´t the case. I´m more worried about if there should occure any major complications on string pull or losing fine tune ect.
Right now I´m all out of words, but if, and when you need more info on this matter I´m more than happy to give it to you.
Thanks ahead! |
