cutting the edge

i want to know how much, if at all , cutting the edge of a string affect the intonation?
is it that bad?

Trimming strings do not effect the intonation. The intonnation is effected by adjusting the length of the string saddles. The pegs are not big enough to accommodate an uncut string (unless it's a really short scale string) so you have to trim.
