Cutting tape wounds - bad?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've recently ventured into the tape wound arena and I was wondering if cutting the ends to reduce length when installing these strings would result in unraveling of the tape. Is it okay to cut the ends like I do with non-tape wounds?

Could be problematic. Only reason mine didn't unravel when cut was because i cut at an area that had a silk wrap, which helped hold it on. And if the unraveling part is in the tuner, it should be fine.

As long as your cutting silk, I think you're good.

Yes.

Cut the string part, and some of these tapes will unravel really fast. It's actually kind of fun.
