So my modulus TBX 6 which is my main bass these days is a 35" scale bass and I love the D addario nickel XL strings which are pretty much what I play on most of my fretted basses but the E and B strings tapper before the nut on the mod. Does anyone know if they make longer scale strings and if not any Ideas on similar strings that are 35" scale. Thanks |

SS or Nickel, just look for ths "SL" and you're good to go

I just ordered a nickel set of the Super Longs from Music 123, MF shows em to be in stock as well. They both had em for 23.99 a set, 5 strings.
I emailed a old ad to Music 123 and asked em to beat or meet that price, the ad was quite expired actually but went for it. They emailed back they'd sell em for 18.00, not bad. I paid less than 5 bucks to ship so I got em for $23 n change.
Saved me about 4-5 bucks and a very good price on these strings even at their asking price, I feel. Both MF/M123, I know they're the same warehouse, show em in stock as of yesterday, when I ordered, they shipped today. Cool. |

I haven't been able to find a super long scale 6-string sets from D'Addario, but I thought it was just hard to find them in Japan where I live. So I've been buying their super long 5-string sets, and buying C-strings individually. (Basically, it's only the B and E strings that need to be "super long" in the case of the TRB. The A - C strings work fine with just the "long" scale".) It costs me a fortune here though... like over $50 a pop.
Incidentally, they have a "ProSteels" version of what I'm looking for. http://www.bassemporium.com/item.php?sku=EPS1706SL
I wonder why they don't make them super long for the regular EXL line of strings.
I've been playing D'Addario strings for so long, and this was never an issue with my old TRB5P that was a 34" scale. Now I don't know if I want to make the switch to another brand, but the mix and match approach feels strange too. I guess I could try the ProSteels, but I heard they are really bright. |

Sometimes I use papper under the nut, otherwise I just get the green slinkys. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
