The band I play in uses CGCF and DGCF tunings
I use Rotosound 66 at 45-105

it'll punch through the mix of two guitars and two vocalists quite well

Thanks guys.
The Rotosounds are interesting too, and they just cost 20 Euros.
But since i am a big James Jamerson Fanboi i will spend the 60 on those.
too bad Bass strings are so expensive, i would love to try out all kinds of strings, even more than i would like to try out basses.

Lakland flats are reported to be round core flats. The heavier gage set, tuned down might get you a TI-ish feel.

I play a Warwick Thumb tuned DGCF with GHS Pressure Wounds medium gauge, sounds awesome.

On a Squier P, I had DR Stainless Lo-Riders 50-110 tuned DGCF. Sounded great, nice and fat with a little sizzle. I'd do it again.

I have a Yamaha Attitude Deluxe tuned DGCF with Fender 9050M strings on it. (They are stainless flats, .055 .070 .090 .105 ). I'm a fan -- they are perfect for this bass with this tuning. They do a great job of producing that deep, angry stainless sound even though they are flats; I wouldn't really consider them to be mellow -- they sound a lot like Chromes but with more bottom end and overall balls. I have 5 string with Ernie Ball chrome flats on it. They are basically clones of D'Addario Chromes. In fact, they look and feel so much like Chromes that I would bet that they *are* Chromes, made in the same factory as the D'Addario Chromes, only with monochromatic ball ends and different gauge combinations than the D'Addario sets. They are good strings and I like them, but I probably wouldn't recommend them for DGCF unless you can get heavier gauge ones like the Fender 9050Ms.
