D-string for weeding

Sign in to disble this ad
Um...just wanted to drop a hint that bass strings can be used for the distruction of weeds. I was out of plastic line and the weeds around my place have gotton out of hand...they were mocking me. laughing at me. So I got out an old d-bass string, put it in my weed wacker machine and went to work....the weeds were flying!, they never knew what hit them.
The only thing is it breaks faster then the plastic line, but it sure worked until I can get some more line.

Now there's a unique use for an old bass string. LOL!

Do you think a G string would last longer? How about using a low B on some really thick stalked weeds. I like the idea!

I don't know...this is the first attempt at using old bass strings on the weeds, I'll try the G string next time around.
Anyway...it just seemed like the thing to do being a bass player and all.
Someone said that it was "green of me"...Naa....when it comes to weeds it's either me or them, I hate the stinkin' grass and weeds that has to be cut every week....Is it Fall yet?

Sweet idea!
I misread this threads title as G-string for a wedding

You should try an Fsharp string. You could probably cut down trees with it.

HA HA ! This is very inventive of you. However, be aware that the metal strings weigh more than the plastic and may overheat the motor of the weedeater!

Good point...although I only paid like 30 bucks for this electric weedeater at Home Depot, and the plastic spool thingy melted on the motor shaft after the third use, I fixed it back with epoxy better then the chinise built it. When installing the bass string I had to wrap it a few times on the spool then tie a knot in it or else the slippery string tends to come out with the high RPM's.
I was lucky I didn't encounter any toads hiding in the tall grass or it could of got messy againts the spining bass string of fury.
