Question Dadarrio's

Sign in to disble this ad
What are the best types of dadarrios for a nicelow warm tone, but that are fast and light. If dadarrios aren't good for tahaat, then what other brand and type is better?

D'addario Nickel XLs in gauges to suit your choice. You didn't say whether you play 4, 5 or whatever-string basses but if you play 4 string try perhaps .100-.45 gauge.

I used to use D'addarios and still think they're good strings but I'm now into TI Superalloys and EB Hybrid (nickel) Slinkys. Both of these sets are .105-.45. The TIs are rather expensive but last for quite a long time and the EBs are cheaper and don't last as long. YMMV. The TIs seem to be the warmer of the two brands but again, YMMV.

Sure D'Addario XL nickel rounds are great for that, especially after a few months break in. Fast and light? Get 40-100

I find that 40 and 60 on XLs just does not cut very well. But that may just be me. The XLs 45-100 are pretty easy to play. I am also playing some Fender 7250s that are 45-100 and they seem real easy to play. DR Highbeams have a reputation of being a flexible string as well.

I played LaBella Hard Rockin' Steels in a 40-100 gauge for a while. They are fast and light.

Hi everyone, I wonder if you can help me? I just bought a Yamaha RBX JM2 and I am led to believe that they come with D'Addario strings. Can anyone tell me if this is true and if so, what gauge they are please? I have looked around for string specs for this bass but to no avail. Thanks and take care.

Cheers,

Matt

D'Addarios usually have color coded ball ends. Red, Blue, Gold, Green. Every ball end being a different color.

Also D'Addario XL nickels never have silk wraps.

Thanks a lot. The strings on the bass definitely have coloured ball ends, but when you mean silk wraps, do you mean at the machine head end or the bridge end? I do appreciate your help.

At the tuner end.
The D'Addarios that I know have silk wraps are Chromes, with light blue silk.

OK, now I know that these strings are Nickel, not Chromes. Brilliant Thanks so much. I will go and check out their range and see if I can trace their gauge now. Thank you so much and take care.
