D'addario 170's

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I was hoping someone here could tell me if the daddario xl170 5 string set needs to be in the "super long scale" length for my 35 inch schecter elite 5?

I tried the standard "long scale" and they were to short, but I didn't actually mount the string. I just held it up to the bridge and it came about an inch to short. The windings sat over the first fret about 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

Would the super long scale strings be the set I need or should I have mounted and tensioned the regular scale strings hoping to stretch the windings beyond the first fret?

Any help is appreciated.................

D'Addario longs just barely cut it on most 35" fivers (I have a long set on my 35" Spector - the B string comes up a few windings short).

Yeah, go with the super longs.
