Post D'Addario Chromes v.s. D'Addario Nickles v.s. Ernie Ball Nickles (pink package)

Ok. So my Dirnt has had Rotosound Swing66 medium scale (aka REALLY light gauge) and the G string broke like 3 months ago and I've been waaayyy too lazy to get new strings. So tomorrow I'm going to finally get some.

Ok so the D'Addario nickles and EB nickles are the only ones I've ever owned. I have played a lot of basses with chromes though.

I first had the EB nickles on my first bass from 06-08 (started playing in 06) and either they broke or were jest flat out old and I got a new set in 08 (I remember specifically because we bought 2 sets, one for my fretless and one for my first bass) and that set stayed good until I broke a string like a month ago (it is now strung with fender flats). I remember not liking them on my fretless but I absolutly ADORED them on my first bass. Even at the time that they broke, they still sounded fresh (compared to some strings) and they were rather easy on the fingers.

I bought my Dirnt later in 08 and it came with the D'Addario nickles. They seemed to have a low tension, and easy on the fingers. They were DEAD though, they sounded REALLY REALLY good though. I haven't since found a set of strings that have sounded/felt that good on my Dirnt. They were a perfect match it seems like. One of the string broke and then I got fender flats (loved them, but I love them on any bass I have them on) and then later LaBella tapewounds, which sounded good but I could not get a low action with those. I also had bought these when I was selling my Steinberger Spirit, I got the double ball ones. They felt great and played great, and I, had trying rotosounds and fender flats on this bass (my 2 favorite strings of all time), hadn't had it sound that good the whole time I had owned it.

Chromes basically I want cause I've never owned them and I (almost exclusively) use flats now. And basically I'm looking for what I found in the other two strings but in flats.

So what should I get?

You may enjoy TI Jazz Flats. As for the D'Addario rounds you had, they were probably EXL170 nickel rounds.

TIs are just a bit out of my price range at the moment. I chose these three cause theyre a bit cheaper. If I had the money I'd prolly experiment with Roto flats.

Then I would suggest Chromes (40-100). They are really nice as well and have a bit more bottom end than TI's.
