D'Addario comes through!

Well this is a follow up to another post I made:
Disappointed in Chromes

I have to say I am utterly impressed!
Don Dawson at D'Addario heard about my bad experience and FedEx'd me a new set overnight, which was way more than I expected.
I just put them on and they are just fine. Tuned Tank Grrl up and did not have to adjust my truss (I had Ernie Ball Regulars on it before).
They feel nice and play nice and sound nice, so it's a winner.

This is the EC82 set (.050-.105).

There are a couple of issues you may want to take into consideration though, although they were not deal breakers for me.
First is: If you plan on going thru-body you may have a problem with just the regular long set. I posted a pic. The silk on the nut side barely clears the nut on my bass with a BAII bridge.
Second: I had to scrape the silk off the ball end on the E string because it would not go through the hole in the bridge. So if you have a BAII be prepared.

So overall I could not be happier, unless they were free of course.
Great job by D'Addario, I'll be getting more!

Waiting on some new Chromes for myself. Definitely excited! They are good strings.

Nice bass & rig! Welcome to the world of chromie goodness
The bass in my avatar has been strung with ECB81's (.100-.45? ) for a yr. Gets 4-6 hrs of play time every week. These strings lost some brightness (initially way too bright...for me, anyway) after about a month, settling in to a very nice warm tone which I really like. Can still growl when needed, & when I d.i., they seem to literally "sing" the bass notes. As long as I own this bass, the Chromes will not be coming off! :-) thanks for the tips on the p-bass, cos when mine gets flats, they will be Chromes!

Yeah these strings are great. I got the neck set to a small amount of relief and the the strings are between 6/64th and 5/64ths off the 17th. Really smooth. I'll be using these.
