I recently purchased two sets of D'Addario EXL170 strings for my stock '68 P-Bass. In both sets, the E string (0.100 inches) taper is way off. The string should taper between the nut and tuner of course, but these E strings taper around the 3rd fret! Has anyone else received similarly defective strings from D'Addario? |

Bought another set locally that was fine. I got in touch w/ them via their website to return them, and after second e mail asking for a ship to address(replacement was authorized,) they quit responding, guess they thought I was not legit.
I dig the strings, but I have no idea how they survive with this kind of customer care.
I thought my set was a fluke, but seems more common than that.

sets, and none of them had any problem.
Hopefully, these are one or two flukes and not something slipping at DAd.

I just thought they'd take my problem more seriously then they did.
Will probably always have chromes around, but have a bit of a wandering eye now!

They're designed for a 34" scale, so they should fit my P-Bass perfectly. It's quite strange, because the A, D, and G strings are fine. Only the E strings are improperly tapered. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
