D'addario ECB82 vs Rotosound 77

Sign in to disble this ad
I am relavively new to the world of bass and have ordered myself a Gretsch G2202 short scale (30") guitar.

Now I am looking at strings and I can't decide between the D'addario ECB82 chromes flatwound (50-105) or the Rotosound 77's (45-105).

I am after a deep dub/ reggae/ mod sound and so am inclined to go for the D'addario's as I believe the tension will decrease with a shorter scale neck and I have also heard that short/ medium scale strings can be quite floppy?

I also intend to use a drop D tuning on the bottom string. With all this in mind would I be right to go for the D'addario's?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.......

Cheers,
Cieran

I have chromes on 3 basses..... I tried the roto77's last month..... ten minutes later i took them off and put the chromes back on.

as far as tuning down? i frequently drop my E string down to B and its just fine.
