Question D'Addario EXL220-5 vs. Ernie Ball Super Slinky

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone know the differences between these sets? Both are .040 - .125 5 string roundwound. Which is brighter/warmer, higher tension? etc.

Here's the ones in particular I'm looking at...

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DAddario-EXL2...#ht_1648wt_912
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ernie-Ball-Su...#ht_667wt_1136

Any advice is appreciated

having went from slinkys to d'addario xl's on my ray. I can say if you looking for BRIGHT the slinkys will get you there. I found them out of control bright.

personally I'd go for the d'addarios I have yet to see a bass that they dont sound good on

+1 on d'addario used their strings for a long time. Their nickels are pretty bright and clanky out of the box but after a couple of days off good playing, they sound perfect.

Thanks. I'm after a warmer sound and I might just buy the d'addarios now....

My Slinky's were DEAD after one show. Granted I sweat a lot, but I didn't think it'd kill mys strings. I've had better experience with D'Addarios. I am now going to try out Cleartones as per a bandmate's recommendation.
