I guess it's big enough of a problem they came out with something like that. |

Actually, sbd told me that but I've never know the D'addarios I've bought is fake or not :d
But about years ago, my friend booked so many D'addario Classical String and when they arrived, he told me that they were fake, and sound like sh*t
That's the Classical Strings, sth like that may happened to the Bass string.

| | | I have heard about this. I go through the XL's fast, change them about every two weeks on my main Jazz. I have not come across any "fake" D'Addario strings yet,but I buy from the big stores....Sam Ash and Guitar Center. Yea,I'm sure there must be some money in it if they are counterfeiting strings |

They had the same colored ball ends as D'addario, but came in clear plastic sleeves and often no brand labeling. I had heard some rumors that they were D'addario "seconds", but that always seemed a little weird to me...I actually bought them for a little while because they were super cheap and sounded more or less the same to me as XLs, but XLs were never my string of choice anyway...

Chinese knock-offs being sold for a lot less online. D'addario is trying to fight this really hard, even got out Senator involved http://schumer.senate.gov/new_websit....cfm?id=328862

My suggestion would be to buy from a reputable dealer as well. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is!
