picked up a set of chromes. I sturng up my p/j and left my amp on the same settings as last night. after tuning up I started playing and I have a LOT more bottom. It was shaking the walls . plays very nice I'll have to get used to the fell but I do love the mellow sound. the old strings a set of heavy d'addario nickel round got kicked down to my deluxe. they calmed the harsh highs I used to get. all and all I'm pretty happy, I may get a set of the La Bella's for the J

I have Chromes on my J and think they are great. I await your review and comparison from someone who is new to both.

I am hoping for a comparison of Chromes to Labellas. Wondering what someone who is new to both sets of strings would think of them. I think next string change I will give the TI flats a try.

Flat wounds have more metal for the same diameter and so generate a stronger signal with less harmonics.

I love the sound and feel of flats. Unfortuntely, the music my band plays needs the brightness of rounds. I guess I just need more basses so I can have more options.

I've got Flatwound Chromes on all of my j basses...and they rule.

I picked up a set of La Bella flats that I'm putting on my swamp ash jazz when I get the bridge replaced with a BAII. I've never tried La Bellas on a jazz, but I did put a set on an old P-bass I had and they were amazing. I'm no Jamerson by any means, but I definitely had the right mood going.

The oldest set of Chromes I have on right now are on my fretless jazz and they've been there for about 2 1/2 years and still feel like they did after three months on the bass.

Hope you enjoy them. I imagine they'd be sweet on a P/J.
