D'Addario Pro Steels recommendations?

Sign in to disble this ad
i'm looking to try different strings.
probably going for stainless steel cos i like the brighter sound.

1. can anyone recommend me these sets (D'Addario Pro Steels) with reasons?

2. do they come with any silk wrapping anywhere? (i dislike colored silk on strings)

3. how do they compare to SIT, Sadowsky or Rotosounds?

4. should i get a super long set for my 35" lakland 55-02 with string thru body?

5. why is the regular gauge for 5 string 45, 65, 80, 100, 130 instead of 45, 65, 85, 105, 130)?

1. They're fine.

2. Can't remember but I think they do have silk. I seem to remember a grayish color silk on a set I bought long ago. But don't take my word for it.

3. Strings are an individual choice. Nobody can tell you if you will like one string brand over another one.

4. Yes.

5. D'addario makes both those sets available. What difference does it make what they're called?

I'm sorry...you're absolutely right. If you want that set, you'd have to buy a 4-string set and get a .130 separately. And I notice that the set with the 85 and 105 has a 135 B so I messed up there, too. I went to juststrings.com, which has everything, and thought I had found the set you needed, and didn't look hard enough.

Anyway, I have no idea why they do it that way, but I guess their market researched determined that's what most people wanted, so that's what they did.

yeah i saw that if i wanted the 85 and 105 i need to get the 135 B string.
but the problem here is that they dont offer the 45-135 as SUPER long for my lakland
