So, I think I've put at least 3 sets of Prosteels on my American P bass and it just seems like every time I put a new pair on, the less impressed I am. They sound good but the tone dies so quickly. And these babys TEAR UP my frets.
It's getting bad.

But the purpose of this thread was to ask what your opinion on these strings are.

And, what other strings are good for that "piano" p-bass tone we all know and love.

Probably the brightest string on the market. No matter how you EQ the bass, it always has an agressive "bite" to it, an edge so to speak. They are rougher than other stainless steels, particularly DR's but they are smoother than Rotosounds.

In general, they are decent strings but I think DR Hi Beams or Fat Beams sound better in the mix of a full band, are smoother to the touch, last longer and a little more flexible.

When considering the cost, they are really good strings. For $17 a pack, it's hard not to like them. I have a set on my Jazz that still sound very bright and they have been on the bass for 4 months. Maybe the oils in my hand are not as harsh.

I put a set on my Jazz a few weeks ago and they haven't died yet, but they haven't gotten any less harsh on my fingers either. They sound good, but I like the way DR Lo Riders feel a bit better so I'll probably be going back to them.
