You should search for opinions on them in this forum - they're not the most well-known stainless steel roundwounds out there, but there are still plenty who like them.

They're my personal favorite stainless steel string - both of my basses are strung with them! They're bright, defined, growly, stiff, and produce a lot of output. They're also rough to the touch, but they're not too rough. Personally, I love them for all of those features.

EDIT: gfried84 made a good point - they're very long lasting, too! I haven't replaced my strings in months, and they're still pretty bright!

I use pro steels on all of the instruments I build and I haven't found a more consistent sounding string. They have great response and certain crisp sound that I don't hear with other strings. In my experience they also last a long time.

Because I didn't find straight opinion about them, I decided to ask.

I'm going to buy six string version. Is the low B string as bright as the rest strings are?

I'm not sure - I've only used the 4-string sets.

I used a five string set with a .135 B string. It's one of the best B strings I ever played. I switched back to nickels because they are warmer and easier on the frets.

I buy them because they're very cheap at a local store (20$ CDN, roughly 17$ US) while DRs (my favorites) have gone up (to 35$ CDN, + tax... that's over 30$ US). They get the job done, and pretty well, although they're a bit too rough and stiff to my liking, but they're still the best strings I can afford on a regular basis. Oh yeah, and they last long, too.

My B-String broke while tuning it after I had just put them on. That's a first for me.

However, I mailed the string back and they sent me a replacement free of charge. Good customer service.
