D'Addario and Spector problem

Sign in to disble this ad
The other day I bought a 5 string set of D'Addarios but unfortunately the B string doesn't seem to fit in the bridge.
So I had a look on the old B string which came with the bass so I assume its a Spector string and the thick winding near the ball seems to have been squished or filed back.

So I ask for someones knowledge on how to remedy my problem.

Thanks in advance.

d'addario offers such "taperwound" B strings as singles, you should be able to buy one online.

It has happened to me on some basses. I get a strong set if pliers and compress that winding until it fits.

The same thing happened to me with a set of Spector strings 130 gauge, and i forced them a little bit into the slot and it worked but i ended up changing them. You have 2 choices:
1- buy a set with a 126 gauge
or
2-buy a set with a 130 gauge( tapared b)
i picked option 2
