i am looking for a bigger sound with my pbass and flats seem to be the answer but i dont want to start with a nice flat string pack. so what are your opinions on daddario chromes and EB steel flats?

I don't have any experience with EB flats, but my SX P-bass has a set of .105 Chromes on it. If you've played different sets of flats before, you'll notice that the Chromes sound pretty bright for flats right out of the pack. But give it a couple of weeks, and they'll mellow out just fine. My Chromes really hit in the midrange, but also have a big, solid bottom and a small hint of zing on the high end if I crank the tone knob. I suggest the Chromes if you're going flatwound.

I have Chrome Flats on all my basses. They work for me.

Alot of people here like Chromes, I find the tension too high. EB flats are just OK. I have not used GHS Precision Flats but the word is they are old skool classics and they are very reasonably priced. Around $20-25 from Elderly Instruments.

Chromes will give you the tight feel. I've tried Fender flats a couple of times and what I remember about them is that they were even tighter than Chromes.
