D'addario xl 155 Looking for 155's or equivalent. Ive got a Chaquita (sp?) short scale 6 string bass that needs to be strung up. Thanks Long live talkbass! |
Are you talking .155? Sounds like you're gonna have to check out Circle K strings. D'Addario's largest string is .145 and it's only available in long scale an super long scale. Good luck! |
I dig 24-34-44-56-72-84 are the guages. Originally made for Jerry JOnes (?) short scale bass |
You mean the XL156 Fender Bass VI set? .024 .034 .044 .056 .072 .084 Those are readily available... La Bella also makes Rounds in Stainless Steel and Flats for the Bass VI Do you know the length of the instrument from Ball to Nut / Ball to Tuning Post? If it is shorter than Bass VI specs (just under 33" Ball to Taper / Silk) then you can use Hellcat or other Baritone Guitar strings. Hellcat strings for example are .026 .035 .044 .055 .075 .095 D'Addario also has Baritone Guitar Strings .014 .018 .026w .044w .056w .068w and .013 .017 .026w .036w .046w .062w |
I got xl155 from a receipt that was in the case of the bass. I got the string gauge by looking up xl155 on the d'addario website. The scale is very short...the internet says it's 19" and I wouldn't be surprised if that was true. (can't measure it atm) SO! It seems that the 156s will work as they are the same gauge. Thanks for the help! |
Oh... the XL155's are an old part number no longer produced... Jerry Jones Design. |
