DR Hi-beams for me...never had a problem with them in 6 years of dedicated use. I don't know how they differ in sound from other strings, but I do a lot of bending and they're very flexible and don't go out of tune.

I know the issue is resolved, but I have to say I'm a long time D'Addario user who has only had one problem in twenty-some years.

Why is it when there is a temporary QC issue on one string assembly line, we don't trust the entire product line? I'm guilty of it myself. I quit using DR years ago because of quality issues. I never tried them again. Odd... Every company has QC issues at one time or another. I'm going to have to try DR's again.

Anyways, thanks for the advice! Appreciate it, man!
hold the phone...

let's not start this QC thing because a couple of guys got a bad string...

D'Addario sells 10's of thousands of sets of strings at reasonable prices and they DO stand behind their product...

You had a bad experience, but you haven't even attempted to rectify it, yet (I've read up to post 7, so far )

so let's all be reasonable, OK...

What's even more amazizng is that I sold D'Addario strings and in 11 years we had customer complaints about only five or six strings (individual strings, and I'm comparing that number to ALL the D'Addario strings I've sold- guitar (electric, acoustic, silk 'n' steel, and nylon), mandolin, dulcimer, banjo, and electric bass). I had some trouble with the original stainless bass sets (XLS-570) with two dead E strings out of the pack in two years.

I only started using DRs because I was using D'Addarios on a string-through bridge (original Music Man StingRay) and they changed the specs sometime around 1990 so the stock strings wouldn't fit on an STB instrument. I had to special order the extra long sets and eventually it got to be too big a hassle. No problem with the strings and they're still the only strings I use on my guitars.
