I think in the 2 years i've been playing bass i've only changed strings 2 times. Its probably because my bass line-up changes so often but regardless i'm pretty unfamiliar with string brands and stuff so could anyone point me in the direction of some strings that would fit the description i have in the title? The only thing is they have to be a 6 string set.
and incase you were wondering my definition of growl would be Victor Wootens tone (when he plays fingerstyle) and by high tension i mean strings that take serious effort to bend. I got so used to bending when i started out and now i prefer to feel some resistance when i do it; don't like my strings floppin' all over the place. So, yeah any suggestions are welcome. For what it's worth my bass is fretted...

When I first put them on they were very bright and zingy, and stayed that way for a few weeks. But now they have broken in nicely and they sound awesome.
Also, I've found broken in D'Addario XL's can get pretty growly.

Either one will chew off your fingers though.
