Question Dean Markley Flats

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone have any experince w/ these strings? I was considering ordering a set of their medium lights, .50-.100. Is there a major difference between the .50-.100's and the .50-.105's? From what I gathered on the internet, the .50-.100's sound very similar to the fender flats in that they have a good amount of vintage thump, depth and are very smooth but the Fender's tend to be a bit higher tension. I had the Fenders before and liked them alot aside from the tension, so one could reason that the DM's would be the way to go. My interest in these strings was piqued when I found that one of my favorite bassists, Ben Shepherd of Soundgarden uses these flats. But I was just curious to see if anyone had any hands on experience w/ these.

Never played them, but they sound great on Robbie Shakespeare's basses live and recorded. traditional thumpy flat with a lot of mids definition and character.

Someone on another board really liked the .100 set because he says they have the best tonal balance string to string of the flats he's tried.
