Excellent customer service.

| | | | Followup on my snapped D string. DR sent me a replacement D right away, (they offered a complete set) and I wound the string in a figure 8 around the gear before cutting it, and so far, so good. I do like the strings and I am happy with DR's customer Service, though it does seem they are having some type of problems with more than just the flats.

No vibration at all. Emailed them and they sent me a new set. I just wanted the g string but they were very cool about it. DR which is a big company Im sure would do the same.

| | Registered User Manager and Partner, Fodera Guitars (as of 10/14/09) | | Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: NE United States | | This happens sometimes when you are making round core strings -- especially on the G or C strings where there is only one outer wrap over the round core. In order for the outer wrap to "hold onto" the inner round core wire without unraveling and (therefore) sounding dead, we need to flatten a section of the core wire.
If either the amount that we flatten is not large enough and / or when you go to make your cut at the end of the string you do not bend the string at at least a 90 degree angle before cutting (and cut it AFTER the bend), that outer wrap can come lose from the core thereby creating a dead sounding string.
In our experience, the vast majority of the time this problem takes place when the player doesn't properly bend the string prior to cutting it to length. We provide detailed installation instructions with pictures inside every set of our strings but the majority of the time (sadly) folks don't read them. Rather than arguing the point, we simply replace them and offer a gentle reminder to folks about bending the string at a sharp angle and making the cut AFTER that bend.
Hope that this makes sense!

| | | | I just replaced my BTB776's strings with Fat Beams that were purchased six months ago without any issue.
Then I broke both the B and C strings on my SR1306 and GVB at the tuners with sets that were bought two weeks ago. DR replaced both sets and the c string just snapped on my GVB tonight. Which is weird since those two instrument have never snapped a string before. |

Same issue as some of the others on this thread, fat part of the winding on my E string starts to go over the post and snaps! DR support has been great, and I dont want to switch strings. Love my Marcus Millers! But I dont want to break string either.
Thanks for the help,

Thanks for the help,
J! | If the fat part of the winding is going over the post, that's the problem. You need shorter strings or to string through-body if you have that option and are currently top-loading.

Would a spacer on ball end help, if so what to use?
Any suggestions for a comparable string to DR Marcus Millers that won't have this winding problem?
