Determining Guage

I just got a used Ibanez SR406 and I really like the tone of strings, but not the guages. I don't know what the strings are or the guage. There are gold balls at the ends and black silk at the top. Thanks

They were ones that were on the bass when i got it.

Ask the guy you bought it from. I emailed the guy I bought my Ric from like 2 months after I bought it asking what the gauges were.

I will do that. Also lets say he doesn't know what strings have black silk and gold balls. Its a 6 string set if that narrows down the possiblities.

Get out a really good Imperial ruler and measure, you should be able to get close enough to determine what the gauge is. Take a look at some common sets online at a site like D'Addario or Ernie Ball. More than likely you'll have 30-130 on there, although 30-125 is also possible.
