Did D'addario Pro Steels change,or did I?

Last time I tried Pro steels, years ago I remember them being cheese graters on my fingers, took skin off, hard to slide on, everything usually associated to SS strings.

Well yesterday ups brought me some prosteels and Dimarzio pickups for my rbx170 .

I strung her up and with caution started to play remembering my previous experience...and well...they felt exactly like nickels to me. Honestly they feel great, but a far cry from what I remember them being.

So my question is,did D'addario change something with their prosteel lines(coat them lightly maybe?) or have I just gotten past being a girly man.

I have had only one experience with ProSteels. They were really bright, and I remember not liking them, so I never bought them again. But, I don't remember them being particularly rough for SS strings. Not like Rotos or anything. Maybe you have thicker calluses now?

I know a lot of people say they're bright and clanky, could be their action, style, etc. But I find them no less bright than d'addario nickels for the first couple of days.

Congratulations!
