| Did I get a bum set of DR SS Lo-Riders?

I got a couple of sets of stainless steel Lo-Riders from MF last week as they were on sale.
I put them on my Spector Euro 5LX, and I noticed they weren't really "zingy". After a couple hours at home and a couple hours at rehearsal, the B is already "thumpy". The others don't sound very crisp either.
This is my first experience with stainless steel strings. I've used nickel D'Addario XL's forever on my other basses, and I had a set of nickel Lo-Riders on the Spector before these strings. I was under the impression steel was brighter than nickel. The nickel Lo-Riders sounded zingier than the steels.
So did I get a bad set?
