did they made a mistake and gave me groundwounds instead of flats?

made an online purchase of thomastik flatwounds from this site:

http://www.lordofthestrings.com/lots.../11001622.html

i have never tried other strings aside from the usual roundwounds so this is why i am posting.

the same website has a scheme on how the strings are made.

please see the difference between the flatwound and the groundwound strings.

i ordered flats, like you can see in this picture:

and here is what i got. are these groundwounds or are they flat? in the thicker strings, i can feel the spaces between the "wires" if i scratch the thicker strings with my nails but these are noticeably smoother thans the rounds. as i move towards the thinner strings, the smoothness increases. also, if i compare the schemes of the site with the strings i got, i say i have been given groundwounds. help me here.

so, what strings are these? just to be sure..... one thing i already nailed is that these strings are SUPERB! groundwound or flat, they are FAT sounding, very smooth, very comfortable. best strings i ever had were DR but today i found out a new personal favourite in terms of sound and feel.

They look VERY similar to the flatwounds I have on my Jazz.

No picks of them on my bass, but this is the box they came in.

Those are flats. That's what the TIs look like. They're not as smooth as some, but I agree on your assessment. Hope you continue to like them.

Yes, they are flats. The spaces between the windings do throw people off, and many folks used to smooth finished flats of other brands will find the feel strange. Current thinking among many is that the spaces between the windings and a round core give the TI Flats their low tension.
