Difference between LaBella rounds sets

Sign in to disble this ad
After visiting juststrings.com I realized the large variety of la bella rounds, so if anyone could tell me the difference between criterions, hard rockin' steels, slappers, super steps, and deep talkin round and quarter wounds that would be magnificent.

Slappers are Nickel Plated Steel
Super Steps are tapered Nickel Plated Steel (basically tapered Slappers)
Hard Rockin are Stainless Steel
Deep Takin are Steels but have a thinner core and more wraps
Quarter Rounds are ground wound strings, but not totally ground down
Criterions are their "value" line

Hope that helps

I believe Super Steps are exposed core stainless. Exposed core is a bit more extreme than a taper as I understand it. They are supposed to be very bright.

Super steps are wonderful sounding strings that last a long long time. They never really sound dead, however given long enough they may break (i've owned two sets and both of mine did although they were on for around 8 months each). They require a bit of tinkering with action and intonation as well which could be a hassle if you change brands. Hard rockins are nice, the nearest thing to Sadowsky's strings i can get in the uk. Great B string too. If you play a four string i wouldn't bother with La Bellas unless you want flats or quarters , the advantages are only worth the cash for their great 5 and 6 string sets. And you don't live in the uk so strings are cheap for you anyway. Buy them all and see how you go
