can somebody please explain to me is there any difference in tension between strings that go thru bridge and strings that go thru body, and if there is what are the pros and cons of both ways of stringing.

No string tension differences between string thru bodies and top loaded strings.

Pros and cons, however, I cannot help you on

The belief is that string through bodies have better sustain more so than affecting the actual sound.

i'm not sure about the sustain, but i am sure that the sound projects better. projection is based on volume, sustain is based on time.

but i am really interested in tension, the amount of force that is needed to pluck a string. is it a myth or truth that there is a significant difference?

String tension isn't the amount of force needed to pluck a string, it's the number of pounds of force needed to bring the string up to pitch on a given scale length. And it's not affected by anything past the nut and bridge saddles.

Some people claim there's a difference in tone, sustain or feel when they string through the body, and they might be right, but there's no difference in string tension.

that's what i waanted to know, because i couldn't tell a difference between my 51 reissue P bass (which is a string thru body) from any other P bass, but a customer in shop in which i worked was telling me that there is a big difference. so he is ignorant and i am enlightened
