are different strings easier to do slides on?

I've played with roundwound nickel strings my entire bass career. I see guys doing these rapid slides that sound similar to bends and pulling them off with ease and I'm wondering if they use a different type of strings. Are certain types or brands of strings easier to do slides on?

Coated strings are probably naturally easier to slide on

I can tell you that DR Nickel Lo-Riders are much easier to slide on than Hartke nickel roundwounds, as I happen to have both kinds on the same bass at the moment . Yes, I too like DR.
