Question Do DR strings lose tone after time in the packet?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I live in Australia and I play DR strings, the only way to buy them here that isn't hideously expensive is on eBay from the us and they sell them in groups of 6-10 at a very good price, my question is do dr strings rust or go dead in the pack if u don't use them for a long time? It would take at least a year to go through 10 packs of strings

I've never had problems storing DR (or any other) strings for a year or two.

I'd say that once they are stored in a cool dry ( if you are worried about rust, put in a silica gel packet with them ) place, I dont see why any strings should not last for a long time.

yeah - I've had strings around ten years old (still in the package) that sounded fine.

Ok, that should be fine it doesn't get too humid round my place and I might use silica packets just in case if I'm worried

Stainless or nickel? Neither *should* rust.
