Question do flatwounds have more of a tendency to have dud strings?

I recently got a set of Chromes that seemed to have three dead strings, plus it seems I hear about more flatwounds having dud's
Thanks

Did you overwind?

If you overwind the string ie, leave too much string around the machine head at the top, it can deaden the string.

The only ones that I have had problems with are Roto 77's
