Do I need long strings for my bass?

I have a 90's Squire Pro Tone 5 string Precision Bass and I need new strings. Unlike my old 4 string bass which had two tuners on each side, all 5 of the tuners are on the same side of the headstock. Do I need to buy longer strings when I get new ones?

P.S. Im looking at some D'addario Flats, as that is what Im used to. Would you recommend them for a P Bass?

I'd just go to a music shop and show them your bass and ask what type of string lengths you need.
