do nylon tapes cut through better than flats?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone,

I've never tried nylon tapes, but since I've read that they sound similar to flats but with a more pronounced high mids content, do you guys think that this would make tapes cut through the mix better than regular flats??

Thanks

These strings sound good, however I've always experienced grounding issues when using them. I would advise you to stay clear IMO.

I don't think so. I find them to be a little bit more mellow than flats.

LaBella tapewounds are pretty lively.

i'd say in some ways yes. the thing with nylons is that they inhabit almost a completely different part of the spectrum from most strings - there is a huge, blooming low-mid range that is really warm and really fills out the low end of a band. down there you're not competing with any other instruments so in that way they do cut through well.

I find the tapewounds too be a little darker sounding, they do have that mellow full warm
bottom to them.
