Unhappy Do SS Strings ever settle down?

Go down to bottom to skip story:

Well it is certainly the last time I ever go to this place. Maybe its partially my fault for not checking things out properly, but I hada gift certificate and was in a rush. I brought my bass for a setup and new strings, I asked for nickle dr lo riders in medium or heavy. So the guy goes looking around and seems very unsure of himself. He takes a box off the rack and puts it in the gig bag, tells me to pick it up tomorrow. I pick it up, foolishly dont try it out at the store, and come home. I play it the next day only to find out that he put on SS lo riders.

I've only had SS strings once before and I didn't mind them, but it really didn't fit the things I play too well. So now I have them once again, and really do not want to go back there asking them to change them.

So long story short, do SS strings ever settle down and mellow out, because these things are way to twangy for me as of now.

Yes, they do settle down eventually. I love 'em for that.

just don't wash your hands for a couple of days. and make sure you play longer, and more often. they'll be dead in no time, and you'll never know the difference.
