do strings add growl? noob question...

sry it is noobish to ask but... do certain strings add a bit more growl? like heavy gauges or light gauges?

Mmm...yes...sort of.

IME, roundwounds growl more than flats, except TI flats.

Excessively heavy gauges boom more than they growl.

Excessively light gauges actually sound a bit thin to me...but this can be good in the right circumstance.
