Does anyone mix strings?

Like flats on E and A and rounds on D and G

I'm wondering if anyone does something like this and what the advantages/disadvantages would be.

you know i got snowed in once and tried this just for fun.....and honestly....it just didn't work out like i thought it would. Either way (flat E A, Round D G or Round E A, and Flat D G, just sounded too odd to me. To summarize: give it a shot if you got some lying around, wouldn't pay for em.

I can see no good reason why anyone would want to do this...

It sounds like a recipe for neck twist to me...
You would have a greater tension on one side than the other that would eventually warp the neck.

Either way, you would have a very unbalanced sound.
Try to run a scale or something and some notes will be dull and some bright.

At one time I used to use a stainless roundwound for the B string on my 5er's and nickel rounds on all the others.
I found the stainless B string to have more clarity, definition,
better tone, and was easier to intonate.
These days on my 5's, I use all stainless.
