Exclamation Does Guitar Center do even exchanges with bass strings (without a receipt)?

Sign in to disble this ad
I asked the guy at check out a couple of weeks ago for medium (45-105) bass strings and he gave me medium light (45-100) instead. I was in a rush that day because I was leaving for vacation that night and didn't bother looking in the bag. My father threw out the bag with the receipt in it when I got back from my trip. All I have is the unopened plastic case with the strings still coiled in their respective "envelopes".

So what are my options at this point?

Do they have my purchase in their records since im a member? (I payed in cash though unfortunately)

Do they even do even exchanges with strings? (even with the receipt)

If the cashier doesn't approve do you think if I ask for the manager and explain my story the manager will do the exchange so I can get the strings I asked for?

I remember what the guy looked like who did the transaction (but if he's not there I can't get his name)

I'm going tomorrow so any information and advice you can give me to help me out here is greatly appreciated.

Seriously?

I guess at least your not asking us how to shrink the strings. Or a t-shirt.

You have two options

1. They say sure and swap you out.
2. They say your SOL.

I can't imagine they will say no if it is unopened and you just ask nicely. If they do say no, then that was just a $20 lesson to pay attention to details.
I really don't get why people ask questions like this on forums.

Probably to learn the difference between "your" and "you're."

A 105 stripped once I started putting tension in the string (it was a DR: I will never buy them again) and they refused to take the strings back.

I never buy strings there anymore.

I'm sure DR would have replaced them for you.

As a general rule, as long as you bought them from GC, we will return them without a reciept, cuz we have your sales info in our computers. If they are defective, bring em back.

I doubt that they will exchange a roiduct without the original case and without the receipt, but you can always sell it on the TB , and not have a total loss of it

Yeah if you don't have the original packaging, you're pretty much SOL anywhere.

If you use 105 in rounds then try the 100's in flats. Flats have tighter tension.

I tried 105 flats and took them off immediately. But then I sold them cheap to a nice guy on TB. Not sure yet how he likes them.... Maybe he'll chime in.

Indeed they would have. I've used them for years, 1 bad string. DR replaced it(shipped it overnight), no questions asked.

Yeah thanks they had my purchase in the system, so it worked out fine with the even exchange.

They should do the exchange. Someone at the counter gave me a lighter set than I had asked for and I didn't pay attention. I brought them back the next day with no problem. I had the receipt though.

You might as well try.
