Question Does "Long Scale" mean 35" ONLY??? Or "not-short-scale"?

Sign in to disble this ad
all of a sudden I have string-purchase angst... So my bass is just a regular 'ole 34" scale.
GHS seems to only issue their "Heavy" Boomers in "long scale".
Am I going to run out of cloth/fabric ??? or does "Long Scale" in stringspeak just mean they're not for a "short scale" bass??

this is embarrassing... I been playin' a long time and still am ignorant

Long-scale is standard parlance for 34-inch-scale bass strings
Medium = 32 inch
Short = 30 inch
I think they use "extra-long" to describe 35 and above

Yep, that's been standard industry terminology since at least 1973 when I started hanging out too much in music stores.
