I use them on my fretted and fretless XL5s. I like the look and tension. The tone is very good, not quite great bot very good. I like to play rock music of different kinds and these are forgiving when slapped, hammered or bent. The color seems to last pretty well, but mind you if I play one bass a lot I'll change the strings when they no longer feel fresh. That said these stay pretty fresh a long time. I could see some people's sweat and attack causing them to discolor quicker than others, but that can't be news to you. I've considered getting the silver strings for basses I don't want colored strings on. I've used the green, black and red and they all look good.

I have a Corvette $$ strung with Black Beauties and I am pretty happy with it. There are other strings that may be brighter out of the box but these last me at least two months before I consider replacing them. I have used non-coated strings in the past and most of them are dead ( to my hands) by the end of the first gig after having put them on the day before. YMMV.
